BACARO DA FIORE
A “Bacaro” is a place in which, in past times, wines were poured into glasses and sold, that was what has been occurred here since 1871. Over a hundred years passed since “the nectar” (i.e. wine), daily consumed by Venetians, was sold here, so that it has become a tradition, that of ombra, which our family want to preserve.
It’s really from the tradition that our strong wish to maintain a peculiar space inside “Trattoria da Fiore” has its origin, a sort of corner wherein our clients can enjoy some time which belongs to Venetian history and culture sipping a glass of wine or drinking a spritz together with a typical cichéto. “Chicchetteria da Fiore” is born to make that ancient place, half bar half tavern, live again, tasting savouries perfectly matched with a glass of good wine, an “ombra that’s so.
“Going to cichettare” means, in the modern culinary language, to have a snack, so we wish to offer the savouries which were found in the traditional Cichettrie: fried fish (squids, prawns, sardines) as well as fried vegetables (zucchini, squash blossoms, eggplants, peppers, artichokes), meatballs, fishcakes, cuttlefish “roste” (grilled cuttlefish), sardines “in saor”, small polyps, canapés with whipped stockfish, “spienza” and even more, according to the season.
All these specialities are well enjoyed if matched with an ombra, for that reason we focus our attention on the choice of wines, preferring those typical of our region, Triveneto, in order to offer to our clients the best selections of white and red wines to sip.
Be sure that it is not so bad to spend some time at a “Bacaro”, sipping an ombra, tasting a cicchetto among Venetians’ chatters, here Venetians meet each other not just to have an aperitif but at any time during the day. Come and have an informal lunch which consists of particular dishes, purposely made for the Bacaro, and cicchetti as well, but do not forget our timetable: from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. every day, closed on Tuesday.
